Julian Rawle is a widely recognized expert in the undersea fibre optic cable industry, well-known for his strategic vision, accurate market forecasts, insightful analysis, and due diligence research and reports.

​A certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Julian draws upon fifteen years of experience in the subsea fibre optic sector, including executive leadership roles as managing partner, international marketing director and representative director. His career has spanned work in emerging and developed international markets for such industry leading companies as NTT World Engineering Marine Corporation, Pioneer Consulting and Global Marine Systems. His diverse suite of services and core competencies impact every stage of undersea cable development and operation, from feasibility and traffic studies, through business plans and M&A advisories, to pre-sales, installation, backhaul, and maintenance. Julian has worked with clients operating in Asia, Africa, South America, Australasia, Oceania, Europe, and North America. 

Prior to his career in the subsea fibre optic cable industry, Julian developed several successful business units in the former Soviet Union, including telecommunications, oil and petrochemical initiatives for various multinational telecom and energy companies. He is a prolific author of articles and a much sought-after moderator and speaker at telecom conferences and events.

"Our firm, BIA Digital Partners, engaged Mr. Rawle and his firm, Pioneer Consulting, to perform due diligence in connection with our potential investment in a transatlantic submarine cabling company. It is standard part of our investment underwriting, prior to committing to or funding an investment, to identify and engage experts to assist us.

The specific scope of service for this engagement was to include (i) a competitive assessment of our prospect’s position in the industry, (ii) a delineation and analysis of the historic and future trends that would impact that competitive position, and (iii) an assessment of the reasonableness of the revenue, expense, and capital expenditure assumptions our prospect made in its projection model.
